Black Friday Early Access Popups: How to Build a VIP List Before BFCM
Use an early access popup to build a Black Friday VIP list before November 27, 2026: what to offer, when to show it, spin-to-win vs a plain form, copy examples and the launch email.
Short answer: An early access popup collects emails in the three weeks before Black Friday (November 27, 2026) by offering one thing: first access to your sale, a few hours or a day before everyone else. Show it after a scroll or on exit, not on arrival; keep it to one email field; and on launch day, email the list first. Early access usually beats a bigger discount, because it costs you nothing extra and gets sales in before the busiest hours.
Why early access works
By November, shoppers know a sale is coming. Many stop buying and wait. An early access list gives them a reason to sign up now instead of just waiting, and it gives you:
- A list you can sell to on day one, without paying for ads at peak prices.
- Sales before the rush, when your site, stock and support are calm.
- Your best customers first, which is a reward that doesn't cost margin.
You don't have to offer a deeper discount for it to work. The access is the offer.
The 2026 timeline
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Nov 2–6 | Launch the early access popup. Set up the welcome email. |
| Nov 6–25 | Keep the popup running. Send one or two "it's coming" emails to the list. |
| Nov 25 or 26 | Early access opens for the list (a few hours or a day before the public sale). |
| Nov 27 | Black Friday. Switch the popup to a sale announcement, or turn it off. |
| Nov 30 | Cyber Monday. Final reminder to the list. |
If your sale starts earlier (many stores now run a "Black November"), move the whole timeline earlier by the same amount.
The offer: what to promise
Pick one, and say it plainly:
- Early access: "Shop our Black Friday sale 24 hours before everyone else."
- Early access plus a small extra: "Early access and an extra 5% off your first order."
- First pick of limited stock: good for small batches, drops and limited editions.
Avoid promising a discount you haven't decided yet. "Up to 50% off" in a popup in early November sets an expectation you then have to meet.
When and where to show it
- Timing: after a scroll or 20–30 seconds on the page, or on exit intent. Not the moment someone arrives.
- Pages: product and collection pages are where interested shoppers are. Skip checkout and account pages.
- Frequency: once per session, and never to people who already joined.
- Mobile: use a smaller layout or a bar. Google can rank a page lower if a popup covers the content right after a visitor arrives from search on mobile (Google's guidance).
Spin-to-win or a plain form?
Spin-to-win works well when the prizes are small extras on top of early access: free shipping, 5% off, a free gift. The game makes signing up feel like less of a commitment, so you'll usually get more sign-ups. Keep the prizes in line with your actual Black Friday offer so the wheel doesn't undercut your sale.
A plain form suits premium brands and stores where the access itself is the message. Fewer sign-ups, but every one of them chose the list on purpose.
Adoric Popups supports both, including spin-to-win wheels, and has a free plan. For design ideas, see our Black Friday popup templates and email capture popup examples.
Copy examples
Short headline, one line of detail, one button:
- "Get in before Black Friday." Join the list and shop our sale 24 hours early. Button: Get early access
- "First pick, before it sells out." Our Black Friday drop opens to the list first. Button: Put me on the list
- "Spin for a Black Friday head start." Every spin gets early access, plus a chance at free shipping. Button: Spin
- Exit intent: "Leaving? Don't miss early access." Black Friday opens to subscribers first on November 26. Button: Join the list
The emails to send
- Welcome (right away): confirm they're on the list, say when early access opens, and what to expect.
- Reminder (a few days before): the date and time, and a preview of the main offers.
- Early access is open: the link, the end time of early access, any code. Send an SMS too if they opted in.
- Last chance: before the public sale starts, or on Cyber Monday.
